Fall Decorating

I love the onset of fall. It’s my favorite season…. sweater weather, boots, bon-fires, leaves changing, pumpkin spice everything, rich warm toned colors…. what’s not to love? I’ve started decorating my home and front porch for fall. I’m leaning toward the “less is more” simplicity this year. I feel like it gives touches of seasonal vibes while maintaining some elegance.

Front Porch Dressed For Fall

Somehow the subdued, monochromatic hues don’t feel like fall to me. We decided to plant some vibrant yellow mums in our porch planters and add some orange pumpkins and a touch of purple mums as well. Now our porch is starting to feel a little more “Autum-ish”. 🍁.

Easy, Inexpensive Front Porch Decor For Fall

What do you get when you combine a $1 plastic Jock-o-lantern and $5 Mums? A fun and whimsical front porch decoration. Look for the easy instructions below!

First, I purchased 2 plastic jack-o-lanterns for $1 each. Then I found the Mums that I wanted to use. I found them for $4.95 each.

Next, I spray painted the jack-o-lanterns with a bronze spray paint I already had- and let them dry thoroughly. You could use any spray paint color you want to or you could leave them orange. Then, I cut the plastic container from the mums so I could slide them into the jack-o-lanterns.

I have two large planters on either side of my front door and chose to set the mums on top of them. But, you could use them anywhere. You could also choose different sizes and group them together. I think these would make great gifts too!

Pumpkins and Burlap Monograms

A basket of pumpkins for a warm Fall greeting in our entryway. I love to mix different textures; burlap, cotton, a feathered two and something metallic to add some artistic interest.

Fall Is In The Air

I just love Fall- the smells of baked goods, pumpkin (everything), the beautiful colors of the leaves changing, the cooler weather, gathering with friends and family and having a stronger focus on all that we are grateful for.

Nothing says Fall better than pumpkins! I also happen to have a slight problem with my love for (and collection of) throw pillows and blankets. I change out all my throw pillows every season (I’ll be honest- I change them whenever a new color or pattern strikes me too). I love the painted pumpkin pillows I’ve seen in designer stores but haven’t been fond of the price tag! Eek! So, I decided to take a crack at painting my own pillow covers. I wasn’t sure how they would turn out. But they had a sale on linen, zippered pillow covers at Hobby Lobby so I grabbed a few to try painting my pumpkins. Tell me what you think! 🙂 I can’t wait to use them, but I’m holding off until September 1st to start decorating for Fall! 🙂
