Coordinating Light Fixtures

Mixing and matching your lighting in an open floor plan isn’t as hard as you might think. Here are a few tips: Gather some photos/images for inspiration and to help you define your style. Next, select your metals. You can add something beaded or mix metals like black and gold if you want to. If you add a glass fixture check to see if the exposed metal coordinates with the other metals you’ve selected. This will maintain cohesion. Be mindful of how your new light fixtures will blend with existing drapery rods, door hardware and the pulls on your kitchen cabinetry. You may not want to be too “matchy-matchy” for example: hanging lanterns above your kitchen island and then handing another lantern above the table of an adjacent dining area. Have some fun with mixing different textures and coordinating metals.
